CARDINAL TIMOTHY DOLAN OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK RANKS #1 FOR MOST U.S. DIOCESAN TWITTER FOLLOWERS
At a whopping 224,917 Twitter followers, Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York has the most Twitter followers, not only among bishop-ordinaries, but he has more than any diocese and almost more than all diocesan publications combined. He has four times the number of followers as Cardinal Sean O’Malley, of the Archdiocese of Boston. Cardinal O’Malley comes in second with 47,841 Twitter followers.

In his speech to the attendees of the Catholic Media Conference, FAITH Catholic president and CEO Patrick M. O'Brien challenged Catholic journalists and communicators to reconsider their roles and urged them to put evangelization — not news — first. O'Brien's talk focused on the important role that diocesan communiators play in the mission of the Church; not just to present "news from a Catholic perspective," but to help accomplish the work of evangelization.
