FAITH Catholic seeks new Director of Client Relations

FAITH Catholic President and CEO Elizabeth Solsburg announced a national search for the position of Director of Client Relations. This new position will join the company's leadership team and will be the primary contact for FAITH's 60-plus publishing partners, including 48 dioceses from across the country. "We're eager to bring on a communications professional to help us continue our long and storied tradition of excellent client service," Solsburg said. "Having added 13 new magazines to our publishing family in 2021, we need someone who can help us maintain the high-touch service and communication that our clients have come to expect and appreciate from FAITH." 


Solsburg said a critical consideration for the new hire is fitting into the FAITH corporate culture. "We value the culture we've built over the past two decades," she said. Job Description: Director of Client Relations
Reports to: President and CEO
The Director of Client Relations is responsible for serving as FAITH Catholic’s primary contact with clients. This includes maintaining regular communication with client contacts to assure they receive excellent customer service at every point in their publishing experience and will involve substantial travel to dioceses and organizations to meet with staff.
The director is responsible for managing all client-facing interactions, beginning when a client signs a work agreement and thereafter, throughout its relationship with FAITH Catholic. The director also is responsible for maintaining positive relationships, monitoring the health of every account, troubleshooting, and serving as the liaison between client contacts and staff members who are assigned to each account.


The person who fills this role must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, and must know, profess and act consistently in accordance with the doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church, and with the mission, philosophy, objectives and policies of FAITH Catholic.


  • Reflect, articulate, and promote the mission, vision and identity of FAITH Catholic and the Catholic Church.
  • Serve as a member of FAITH Catholic’s leadership team.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all client contacts, including bishops, directors of communication, finance officers, directors of development, managing editors, editors, and support staff.
  • Conduct new client orientation and onboarding process.
  • Make regular visits to every diocesan custom publishing client as well as organizational publishing clients where appropriate.
  • In collaboration with the CEO, plan, oversee, and coordinate all tasks associated with the annual client meeting (“May Meeting”).
  • Work collaboratively with all FAITH Catholic departments to ensure excellent customer service for publishing clients; practice and promote excellent internal communication and serve as the liaison between clients and FAITH staff where appropriate.
  • Create and maintain value-added networking opportunities for clients, such as through the Catholic Media Association, Facebook private groups, listserv groups, etc. 
  • Oversee FAITH Catholic’s entries in annual competitions to recognize excellence in publishing.
  • Troubleshoot and solve client problems when they arise.
  • Find opportunities for cross-marketing of services to publishing clients where appropriate.


  • Manage departmental budget.
  • Manage staff as assigned by the president/CEO.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred), along with a minimum of ten (10) years previous experience in publishing, editing, communications, Catholic leadership, or business, in a comparable responsible position. Prior experience in Catholic communications strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Catholic Church organizational and operational procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of publishing principles and practices with exceptional ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Impeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities.
  • Ability to make presentations, provide training, mentoring, and supervising.
  • Able to maintain effective working relationships with editorial and communications professionals; and must be able to handle multiple projects/priorities at one time. 


  • This position is headquartered at the FAITH Catholic office in Lansing, MI.
  • This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours, and may require occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Some travel required.
